CBT is a talking therapy which helps you to examine how your thoughts, physical sensations, emotions and behaviours contribute to your present difficulties. Once the maintaining factors of your difficulties are identified, therapy helps you to make changes to improve how you feel. CBT has been demonstrated to be effective in treating a number of conditions including low self-esteem, depression, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and anxiety disorders.
EMDR or Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing is a therapy to help reduce symptoms and distress associated with traumatic events.
ACT helps you to embrace your thoughts and feelings with the aim of reducing the distress caused by struggling to accept current circumstances. ACT helps you to think about your values and commit to working towards them.
I offer DBT informed therapy. This focuses on teaching you skills to help manage difficulties in managing relationships with others, coping with overwhelming emotions and being in the moment.
Mindfulness helps you to live in the present moment rather than worrying about the future or ruminating on the past. It helps you to step back and notice your thoughts and feelings rather than being ruled by them.
I offer CAT informed therapy. This helps you to think about patterns and roles which might occur in your relationships. Patterns which cause you difficulties are identified and we talk through how you might make positive changes.
If you feel that therapy may be helpful for you, you are welcome to contact me to arrange an initial 20 minute consultation. Alternatively you could email any queries to see if therapy may be helpful for you. If you decide to go ahead, I would need to complete an assessment session with you to get a full understanding of your needs and to ensure the therapy plan is appropriate. Session numbers are agreed after assessment.
The therapy room is located in Newark town centre, a short walk from ASDA car park. There is also parking opposite the therapy room £2 for all evening.
